I was inspired by Jessica Rosenkrantz and Jesse Louis-Rosenberg’s Nervous System design, submitted for the 2019 ICERM Illustrating Mathematics Exhibition.
Though I am not sure how I would derivate from this material technically, I can appreciate where my past body of work plays into this design, and what kind of product I might want to produce aesthetically. Though I am fascinated (and have worked) with brains and neurological structures, I would like to adapt this design to generate bulbous trees of a similar profile. This concept would feel like a fitting expansion on my Introduction to Computational Media final project concept.
In an ideal world, I would have liked to produce a corporeal object just as Jessica and Jesse had. In an even more ideal world, I would try and figure out basics of die-casting in order to create a sturdy, aesthetically pleasing end-product. Unfortunately, due to quarantine-based limitations, I would settle for a digital 3D rendering, that could serve as a cast for a future tree.
